Hair transplantation in Kharkiv

Hair transplantation is the only method to increase the density of hair guaranteeing a 100% outcome!

This procedure is successfully practiced worldwide. It is a redistribution of hair units (grafts) from the donor zone which serves mainly the occipital region into the baldness zone. The occipital region is the most densely populated and androgen independent zone, i.e. it is not susceptible to the attack of the male hormone dihydrotestosteron (DHT).

Dihydrotestosteron (DHT) is an androgen that is most closely associated with male hair loss. Hair follicles fall out under the influence of DHT and in the future the newly growing hair becomes thinner, weaker and shorter with each subsequent cycle and the growth phase itself is shortened. This process can take from several years to many decades but in the end they are lost leaving a shiny bald spot. Male hair loss can also occur in women.

Reasons for a hair transplant:

  • Androgenetic alopecia which is the lion's share of all loss (approximately 93%)
  • Cicatricial alopecia (injuries, burns, postoperative scars)
  • Traction alopecia (trichotelomania and cases when tails are tightly made)
  • Correction of the front line of hair growth

Provoking factors that exacerbate hair loss are stress (psychological, physical, etc.), as well as radiation (ultraviolet rays).

Operation technique

A non-suture operation method called FUE (FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRATION) is performed at OK Center clinic in Kharkov, which is considered to be the most up-to-date and safe method. It does not leave scars and has a minimum rehabilitation period.

The operation is carried out in 3 stages:

  • 1st stage is the extraction of hair grafts (Graft is a hair group consisting of 1-3 hairs), using the FUE equipment. It is performed under local anesthesia without causing discomfort to the patient.
  • 2nd stage is the formation of micro-sockets in the recipient area.
  • 3rd stage is a piece-by-piece laying of previously extracted hair grafts with microsurgical forceps (carried out in a checkerboard pattern creating the most natural and aesthetic appearance).

Transplantable areas

Most of the transplants occur in the scalp (frontal, top and temporal region). But also hair transplantation is carried out in the area of eyebrows, beard and mustache. In this case the operation is aesthetic in nature since the lack of hair growth causes considerable psychological discomfort to patients.

Operation result

As mentioned earlier, this procedure guarantees a 100% outcome. Hair survival rate is up to 98%. The hormone DHT does not attack transplanted hair as it is perceived by it as occipital. As a result, transplanted hair remains for a lifetime.

Hair growth begins from the 2nd month after transplantation, the final result is observed after 1 year.

It is important to note that this result directly depends on the implementation of all recommendations and prescriptions of a specialist.

Postoperative period

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in one day. It does not require hospitalization and isolation from everyday life. Small wounds which diameter is usually no larger than the injection mark heal within a few days without causing bruising and swelling which are often found during the surgery.

What should be expected?
